This late-19th-century French oak desk is a stunner. A 48-inch-long treasure, circa 1880, it's vigorously carved, with barley-twist legs and stretcher, a turned finial, foliage carving on all sides of the apron and Black Forest-carved handles on two drawers. The cross-banded top has a carved edge. Here is a desk meant to be the focal point of a truly elegant home office.
