This bright, colorful English porcelain trio is by Wileman & Company, circa 1895, the chinaware's early Shelley period. Henry Wileman was a partner in the old (built in 1822) Staffordshire pottery from 1853 to 1870 and built the chinaworks there in 1860. Joseph Ball Shelley, a sixth-generation potter, became Wileman's sons' partner in 1872, and the Shelley family eventually took over the business, but the Wileman name was kept until 1925. |
